The Correlation between Students’ Perception on Intermediate Listening Course and Their Achievement using SPADA

Abstract

The objective of this study aimed to describe the correlation between students’ perception on Intermediate Listening course learning process and their achievement using SPADA. This study used ex-post facto research design. The population consisted of English Education Department students of Halu Oleo University who enrolled Intermediate Listening course in 2019/2020 academic year with a total of 100 students, 50 students from class A as the sample. The instrument of this study were questionnaire with a total of 19 statements to collect students’ perception and students’ listening competence score collected from their lecturer assessment in Intermediate Listening course. To analyze the data, the descriptive and inferential statistics were used. The result of this study revealed that: (1) Students’ perception level was positive category with mean percentage was 70.92 (SD = 6.229); (2) Students’ level of achievement result was in enough level as well 60.21 (SD= 33.674); (3) the calculation of Spearman correlation coefficient  was 0.681, the significance value was 0.000 < 0.05, it revealed that students’ perception on Intermediate Listening course learning process using e-green SPADA was significantly correlated to their achievement at English department was at strong level (0.60-0.80).
