Abstract

The purpose of this research to identify the Students perception on learning speaking through online learning. There were 47 respondents who completed the questionnaire of students’ perception on learning speaking. The respondents were students at English department of Halu Oleo University fifth semester students who enrolled in academic year of 2021/2022. Researcher analyzed students' perceptions based on cognitive, affective and conative aspects. In the cognitive aspect, the average score was 3.1, the affective aspect3.2 and the conative aspect 3.1. Based on the results of research and discussion, the researcher found that students' perceptions of learning speaking through online learning were in the moderate category. To find out and conclude the results of this study and explain the intentions of the students who chose neutral answers to the previously distributed questionnaire, the researchers tried to conduct interviews with several students with the most neutral answers on the questionnaire. Results of the interviews and concluded that the moderate meaning of the questionnaire was that students could understand learning speaking through online learning. However, on the other hand, students also experience difficulties during online learning. Thus, it can be concluded that students do not fully like learning speaking through online learning.
